Healing Through Nature: A Reflective Journey Into the Inner Forest –
By Manju Hinduja
When I sat down to paint this forest, I expected an easy afternoon — a few strokes, a little green, some white bark here and there.
But nature has a way of holding up a mirror.
Halfway through the painting, I realised I wasn’t just looking at a forest.
I was looking at myself.
Every tree had layers.
Every crooked line had its own meaning.
Every shadow, every highlight, every hidden corner asked me to slow down and feel.
And I realised — the same is true of the mind.
The most beautiful and meaningful journeys are always the ones we take within.

As I painted the trees, I found myself remembering how life feels when I look at it through the eyes of a child — rolling in the grass, laughing when I fall into a stream, getting up with mud on my elbows and joy in my lungs.
Nothing straight, nothing perfect, nothing planned.
Yet everything is full of wonder.
Somewhere between the strokes, this painting brought out the best in me.
It reminded me of an old truth I once wrote about:
A blissful journey is not always easy.
When I focus on just one patch, it looks flawed.
But when I step back and see the whole picture, I fall in love with myself again.
This forest taught me that I need to walk within more often…
to nurture myself more often…
to bloom the way I am destined to bloom.
That is my dharma – my duty to this life I’ve been blessed with.
Painting this scene reminded me of something simple but powerful:
Healing through nature is real.
Nature heals us not by telling us what to do, but simply by being there — steady, patient, abundant.
🌱 A Note on Healing
Nature has given us everything in abundance.
We only have to slow down and look.
Every human being is gifted with the ability to heal themselves – sometimes through a walk in the park, sometimes through a brush on a canvas.
For me, healing comes from the colours of trees, the quiet of a morning breeze, the soft weight of paint on my fingers.
For others, it may come from music, dance, silence, writing, or movement.
The form doesn’t matter.
What matters is recognising what soothes your spirit and trusting it.
Life is a path of self-discovery.
Everything we need is already around us — and always, always within us.
This forest reminded me of that.
And I hope, in some small way, it reminds you too.
